Project Sista Magdalene

A repost from the FCC Mailing List...

Just to reiterate the details for the upcoming pre-project Sista Magdalene mentioned in church this morning. Please note the changed venue for the doc screening & discussion.

1. Sat, 20 September * 4pm * Post Museum, 107 Rowell Road.
This short documentary will highlight pertinent issues and raise important questions regarding the Sex Workers industry. It will be followed by a discussion on the topic. This will be very useful for clarifying our own understanding on "why/how/should we" reach out to the sex workers.

2) Fri, 26 September * 9pm * meet at FCC
Geylang Walk-About
This will give us a first-hand feel of the circumstances and conditions of sex work in Geylang. This will most likely raise more questions which we will discuss at church after the walkabout.

3) Wed, 1 October (Hari Raya Puasa) * 12 noon * FCC
Makan and Mingling
Women who currently frequent the Womens' Care Centre at Lor20 will be invited along with their friends to a simple friendly lunch get-together.

4) 7 Mondays, 13 October – 24 November * 2.30-3.30pm * FCC

YOUnique! FCC Youth Group‏ (July 4)

Greetings!

As a cell group-based church, Free Community Church (FCC) continually seeks to address the various needs of Christians out there. Along this line, we present to you YOUnique! which exists primarily as a safe space for queer youths to discuss biblical teachings in ways that aim to be relevant to our lived experiences.

Some topics we have covered include:

Coming out with Jesus – identity management

Drinking with Jesus – lifestyle issues

Relationships - breaking up & starting anew

Sexy Jesus – youth, sex and God
Topics we are going to cover

Overcoming worldly demands - stress, ambitions

Handling interpersonal relationships - peer pressures, temptations

Current affairs - mass media influences

Consider joining us if:

you are comfortable with an interactive approach to studying biblical teachings

you believe in working out your spirituality with those who struggle in similar ways

you have topics that you want to discuss with other Christian youths

you support the need for both queer women and men to fellowship together

EMERGE at FCC (May 29)

Dear friends,

EMERGE is a brand new 10-week long adventure to explore the foundations of the Christian faith in a relaxed, informal and engaging way. We won't be backing away from the difficult questions of the Christian faith and some of the topics that will be explored include:

- Who is Jesus and why do Christians believe in Him?
- What is the role of the Bible and how should I use it?
- How does God guide us?
- How do I experience God in my life?
- What is the role of the Church and how does FCC fit into this?
- How are we really supposed to live out our lives as Christians?

So whether you are brand new in Church, attending once in a while, or have been a Christian in FCC for a long time already, if you want to have a safe space to get a good grip on the foundations of the faith, I invite you to contact me with your email and mobile number to register for the EMERGE series that starts this Thursday 29/5/08 in FCC at 8pm.
